Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-Delhi) is the centre of excellence for training, research and development in the field of science, engineering & technology in India. In all, there are 23 IITs in India, which cater to the needs of the students looking forward to building their career in the science and technology stream. IIT-Delhi is known to have been formally inaugurated in August 1961 and the first admissions were made in that very year only. The institute is located in Hauz Khas, Delhi. - Kiran Bedi - The very first woman to join the Indian Police Service in 1972 is from IIT-Delhi. In the year 1993, she did her PhD from the institute's Department of Social Sciences.
- Raghuram Rajan - The very famous personality, who served Reserve Bank of India as Governor for three years, did his engineering from IIT-Delhi only. He opted for electrical engineering and passed out the institute in 1985 as a gold medalist.
- Chetan Bhagat - Well, we all know this Indian author, columnist and television presenter. Yes, he did his graduation in mechanical engineering from IIT-Delhi in 1995. Today, he is the bestselling author and is known worldwide.
